Are you covered? Is it enough?

It’s the middle of the day. The kids are at school, the house is tidy(ish) and the washing is on the line.

I take some time before the craziness sets in, to do some hand sewing in front of the television.

At this time of the day, I’ll most likely be watching this:

Or maybe this:

What these shows both have in common – and pretty much every other show on at this time of the day - is the ads.

The life insurance ads.

I have to admit, I usually tune out when these ads are on. My brain yawns and I go to a happy place… until my show is back on.

I just find the idea of insurance, be it life insurance, or any other type of insurance so very, very boring. Luckily for me, my husband isn’t so bored by the thought of insurance. As well as our cars, home and contents, the whole family is insured. I think it might be because his father worked in insurance, before retiring a few years ago.

Australia is currently facing a massive under-insurance problem. We insure our homes, our cars, our holidays, but not our lives.

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month.

It is a reminder to evaluate our insurance levels and calculate whether they’re adequate for the needs of those left behind.

That’s what it’s really about, isn’t it? Ensuring that even though they will miss us terribly, they will be financially comfortable and able to grieve and move forward with their lives, without worrying about money.

The Australian Life Insurance Movement has been created to increase awareness about the severe problem of underinsurance in Australia. Many Australian don’t understand how much insurance cover they actually need.

Visit the life insurance calculator from Life Insurance Finder and then compare life insurance plans to find the right option for you.

Do you have enough Life Insurance cover?

And backtracking a little, I love Sherri from The View. Her smile and laugh is contagious and her personality is absolutely gorgeous.

Who is your favourite host from “The View”?

Disclaimer: I am participating in the LIFE Awareness campaign. I received a VISA gift card for this post courtesy of Life Insurance Finder via Digital Parents Collective. I am also in the running to win an iPad3. As always, all opinions are purely my own.

  1. Clever man your Hubby. Leaving the family secure certainly brings peace of mind. It's amazing how many adverts there are for insurance during the day, makes you a little paranoid that they know something you don't.
