My Week With MARILYN {Giveaway}

GIVEAWAY CLOSED
Winners are Cath and Jos

Marilyn Monroe, is a legend. She was beautiful, sassy, insecure, charming, manipulative, sad and sweet. She will be forever remembered.

In the summer of 1956, on honeymoon with her husband Arthur Miller, Hollywood’s most famous movie star, Marilyn Monroe came to England to join Sir Laurence Olivier in the British theatre, to make the film ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’.

That same summer, 23-year-old Colin Clark set foot on a film set for the first time. His job was as a lowly production hand on the set of ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’. Forty years later, he recounted his experiences in a diary style memoir – but one week in Clark’s account was missing.

MY WEEK WITH MARILYN is the true story of that one magical week he spent alone with the world’s biggest star.

Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe

Michelle Williams is absolutely stunning and portrays Marilyn perfectly. It is obvious why she was the winner of the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress as well as being nominated for the Oscar. Also starring Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench and Emma Watson.

My Week With Marilyn is a slice out of the legendary actress' life. It serves as a window, into the weight of expectation and the price of fame.

  1. I would have to say Kate Hudson. I would spend the week relaxing, sipping cocktails & just having fun! She seems like such a carefree, fun & outgoing person. I would also hope that Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell & Oliver Hudson might drop by so it would be 4 for the price of one! Could you imagine that BBQ by the lake with all of them around? That wouls be so much fun!

  2. I would love to spend a week with P!nk, to discover her inspiration behind her songs, and how she keeps fit within her hectic lifestyle.

  3. Keanu Reeves - ask him to teach me to surf, drive a bus real fast and just stare at him all week long!

  4. My star would be Bruce Springsteen and I would just have him sing every song he has ever recorded for me!!!

  5. I would love to spend the week with Ashton Kutcher...we would go wine tasting in the Hunter Valley and we would eat out in nice restaurants (he would pay for everything of course!)

  6. Robin Williams! We would spend the week HAVING A LAUGH!!!! He would teach me impersonations, jokes, and everything fun. He is a remarkably talented man, and apart from the humour, I am sure he would be up for some serious deep and meaningful times too! He would definitely be a great companion for a week!

  7. It would be Woody Allen. Amazing comic play writer. Over 50 years in the bis and over 40 movies made. Some classics and some real dogs. But mostly sensational work!

  8. Not fussy which celebrity. Any one who lives in a huge mansion with a full-time house keeper, morning and afternoon nannies and a live-in cook. What would I do? Very little - certainly not leave the house.

  9. OOh, since Robin Williams is taken, then I would love to have a dinner party with any of the stars from The West Wing. Martin Sheen, Bradley Whitford or Rob Lowe come to mind ;-)

  10. I would spend time with Julia Roberts and I would want to go to some yarn shops and do some shopping then just sit and knit and visit.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Dinner with Colin Firth for sure! Who wouldn't want to spend some one on one time with Mr Darcy!

ohhh that is a hard question. Drew Barrymore. We would have coffee and go visiting lovely parks and window shopping and we would chat.

  15. Ooo, that's a hard question. Lawrence Fox and Bendedict Cumberbatch have voices I could listen to for hours, Simon Baker has a gorgeous smile, Merryl Streep is fantastically talented, Richard Gere seems lovely; there are just so many possibilities. But I think I'd have to say the Queen - she would talk to me as a friend (not a subject) and I would listen and learn from her sixty years of experience and wisdom!

  16. I'd like to take Katie Perry to the outback and let her experience a relaxed, slower style of life to help her comes to terms with recent upheavals in her life

    ReplyDelete
  17. Colin Firth! what cant you talk about with a man like him!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Queen Elizabeth II counts as a star as far as I am concerned. I think we would spend most of the week trying on the Royal jewel collection. The rest of the time we could palace hop in style and live the life of being waited upon hand and foot. Just imagine no cooking or cleaning for a week!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ooo what a fabulous giveaway, love Michelle Williams. I'd love to spend a week with lots of stars actually, maybe Lady Gaga, because she seems quite lovely and fun and would really know how to party xo

    ReplyDelete
  20. Meryl Streep. We'd have lunch at my house where I'd get her to reveal her secret to why she is just so damned good!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Matthew McConaughey, and we'd spend the entire week in bed....watching DVD's, eating, drinking wine, and lots of other glorious activities that shall remain nameless ;)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'd spend the week with my life long lust and idol, Paul Stanley. I'd be tagging along as Kiss toured, it would not only thrill me to bits but give me an insight into a lifestyle I've spent a lifetime fantasizing about. And seeing as it's my week, his wife is not allowed to come !!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Megan Gale, and I would spend the whole week massaging lotions and oils all over her luscious body.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think Tom Cruise. I think it must be very hard to be him. I'd take him on a horseback trip into the Bob Marshall Wilderness to just fish & decompress. Having people around you 24/7 must be hard and incredibly stressful. I wouldn't want to be a celebrity for all of the tea in China, I like my solitude.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Channing Tatum just so I could relive Magic Mike over and over again!

    ReplyDelete
  26. If I could step back in time, or bring her back, I'd choose Marilyn herself. I'm a huge fan but haven't seen the movie. I would just listen to her and talk and talk about everyone and everything. Thousands of words have been written about her and hundreds claim to have loved her and yet she died alone, under suspicious circumstances. I'd ask her so many questions about the people she knew and what actually happened on that fateful night - it will be 50 years since her death in a couple of days...and yet her celebrity status has endured. Marilyn just fascinates me.

  27. I would like to spend time with Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas, but am certain that both Angelina & Michelle would not tolerate it, so my choice is Peter Ustinov. Famous as a witty raconteur, I think that time spent in his company would prove very amusing and informative.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The Kardashians (or any spoiled star really), I'd take them on a trip to a third world country, and ask them to put their star power to some good use.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would love to spend the week with Ian Somerhalder from the show The Vampire Diaries, google him, take a look and you'll know why!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Theo Rossi. Take him riding through my world. .

    ReplyDelete
  31. Christian Grey, wow what a week that would be, I'm sure sweet little innocent me could learn a few or two, but seeing as you have asking to keep it to PG, I won't go into details ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Christian Bale! I would get him to teach me the stunts he did for Batman! We could go rock climbing, base jumping, shooting! I would be like Robin but nowhere near as cool :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. For this single Mum, what'd most thrill 'er
    A week with Mr Clooney at his Italian villa;
Sharing cocktails (and kisses) with that ladykiller!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Assuming deceased celebrities are allowed, I'd spend a week with Walt Disney, seeing Disney World through his eyes as he never got to see his ultimate dream finished :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Elton John..from full on spoilt tanty to loving father..his life story would be me enthalled!
