It’s an exciting day here today.
Yes, it’s my birthday! Woo Hoo! I woke up to cuddles and kisses from my Mr and my kiddies.
Then I opened a pile of cards and presents. Beautiful new earrings, a watch, Harajuku Lovers perfume (I have quite a collection going), Bridesmaids on DVD (which is super funny) and a cute little steam iron (I always complain that my regular iron is big and bulky and a smaller iron would be perfect for pressing seams… hubby listened!!).
I also received a gorgeous set of Anna Maria Horner embroidery cotton from my lovely friend QuiltJane. Thank you so much Jane! I’m itching to get stitching.
If you’re an Aussie mum with small children, you will no doubt have heard the birthday song by Justine Clarke. When it’s someone’s birthday, we sing it all day... who am I kidding, we sing it when it’s not a birthday.
For those of you who haven’t heard this song, click on the link which takes you to the audio link. {ress play and sing along… the words are there on the left. http://www.justineclarke.com.au/music/1/track/27

ReplyDeleteThere are lots of things that remind me of summer but, in the middle of a cold Tokyo winter, I had a sudden and out-of-the-blue reminder the other day. On Monday morning, my husband, who is never up early, decided to cook breakfast. I had no idea until I woke up at my normal time, went out to the kitchen, and he was cooking bacon and eggs and crepes. Quite a decadent brekkie and a great way to start the day/week! Funny though - growing up, we only ever had bacon and eggs when we went camping every summer. Suddenly the smell of bacon cooking threw me back to summers long past, camping by the beaches, north of Sydney!
Hope you have a great rest of your day :)

ReplyDeleteOddly enough the smell of firewood reminds me of summer. I grew up in Upstate NY (almost Canada), and much like the ants and grasshopper, warm weather was a time of preparing for the cold. I spent most of my summers cutting, splitting and piling cords upon cords of firewood. I hated it at the time, but I credit the work ethic that has gotten me through undegrad and law school (graduate in May) as coming from that.
Thanks for the chance!
Happy, Happy Birthday! I hope you celebrate from sun up to sun down and then have some sweet dreams from all the wonderful memories you've made!
