Fox and the Hound 1 & 2 - Giveaway

The warm weather has given way to a quick cold snap so what is better than to curl up on the couch for some movie time with the kids. Today we checked out an old classic with its newer sequel and weren’t disappointed.

First up was Disney ‘The Fox and the Hound’.

Fox & The Hound (30th Anniversary Edition)

This is a good old fashioned family movie about overcoming your differences.  Set in the farmlands it tells the story of Tod an orphaned fox and his friendship with Copper a puppy being groomed as a hunting dog.  Although these two do not know that they are destined to normally grow up as enemies they form a bond of friendship.  As the story progresses this friendship is put to the test.

Then it was time to tackle the sequel – The Fox and the Hound 2.

Fox & The Hound II

Although little master (five) decided he wouldn’t like it before it started he sat and watched the whole thing transfixed.  This story returns to the story of Tod and Copper’s youthful friendship (set somewhere midway through the first film).  Again it is the story of two unlikely friends and their adventures when the fair comes to town.  This film is more happy going with plenty of singing and dancing provided by new characters Cash (Patrick Swayze), Dixie (Reba McEntire) and the Singin’ strays band.  Again a question of destiny and loyalty must be answered.

Both kids loved the films, as did I.  These are great additions to any collection and perfect for keeping the kids entertained on a day in-doors whilst showing them the importance of true friendship.

The Fox and The Hound is releasing as a special 30th Anniversary edition for the first time ever in high-definition in a digitally restored version of the 1981 original. Both titles feature and all-star voice cast including Patrick Swayze and Kurt Russel and release to Disney DVD on 5 October, 2011.

With thanks to Porter Novelli and Disney, I have a copy of these films to giveaway.

  4. My kids recently decided that their favourite thing about cold days is hot chocolate - with marshmallows! They also love watching TV on the couch - they don't realise that the couch is in the morning sun so its usually the warmest spot in the house.

Thanks for the chance to win.

  5. When we can't go outside in the cold, we would have a movie special. They would get tickets to the movie and a ticket for a snack and a drink. They would go to the counter(dining table covered with a blanket) and pick their treats and hand in their tickets. They love it.

  6. I'm a follower and we either cook, read or watch movies on cold days. At times we do more than one thing - cook the goodies first then eat them while we read or watch movies! Ghastly for the waistline though, well for me anyway, lol.
    Cheers,
    Robyn

  8. I love to start cooking some warm food - it builds up their kitchen skills and we have a nice, warm treat to ease off the cold! Pies or pizza are always great for this!

  9. When my kids were little, we would "get cozy" and watch movies. That would mean getting under blankets and curling up and getting comfortable. Thanks for the great giveaway!
