Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition - Review & Giveaway

It's been a looooooooooong weekend here in Australia. We've had Easter and the Anzac Day holiday all rolled into one. The longest long weekend EVER (as the radio announcer keeps reminding me on my local station).

So keeping the kids entertained has been "fun". Lucky for us, after our trip away to Melbourne, we got home to find lot's of lovely mail and packages sitting on the dining room table (thanks to my lovely neighbour).

Thanks to AMB and Porter Novelli, included in one of these packages was Disney's Pinocchio DVD. I was a little unsure how the kids would go watching it as they're used to modern day cartoon movies - but I needn't have worried. They loved it and sat glued to the television throughout the whole film.

Pinocchio 70th Anniversay Platinum Edition Blu-ray and DVD

Each year the Disney Vault opens to release exclusive Walt Disney Classics on DVD. The prestigious nature of these classics see them available for a limited time only and in fact it could be up to seven years before these Disney Classics appear on DVD again.

From 30 June 2011, two immortal classics Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Edition and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will return to the Disney Vault for further tender loving care. Featuring pristine restoration, creative special features and hours of family entertainment, these two magical titles have been given the royal treatment and are a must for any collector or Disney fan.
This timeless classic full of magic, adventure and iconic music, had every one of all ages wishing upon a star, pining for their dreams to come true.

Complete with some of Walt Disney‟s most endearing characters, Pinocchio is about a small wooden puppet who is brought to life by the beautiful Blue Fairy after his creator, toy maker Gepetto, wishes upon a star.

However to stay a real boy forever, Pinocchio must prove himself worthy by displaying honesty, bravery and loyalty, while embarking on a extraordinary adventure with his friend, and conscience, Jiminy Cricket.

But Pinocchio gets led astray on his journey, and sees him in a world where boys are turned into donkeys and his nose grows for every white lie told, leading to a challenging test of his true character.

  1. I remember when we were trying to get pregnant and nothing seemed to be working, I was holding my little Pinocchio figurine and I wished upon a star for a "real boy" (or girl, I didn't care). Gives me goosebumps just remembering it.

  8. I used to wish upon a star when I was little. The first evening star.
My sister and I would chant

    "Star light, star bright,
    The first star I see tonight;
    I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish I wish tonight"

    and make our wish.

  19. When we were little my siblings and I used to lift our feet, hold our breathe and make a wish as we went over the train tracks. You had to keep your feet up and hold your breathe until you had crossed otherwise the wish would not come true and you would have green babies.

  23. Wishing on star is asking in faith. I do the same thing when I pray...except my faith is in a loving father God (like Geppetto) who created us (like Geppetto created Pinnochio). Hope, love and faith are what keep us going.
